These lifecycle of a pumpkin worksheets are a fun way to teach your child how a pumpkin grows.
We have 2 different activities on these printables, and they can be used in conjunction with great resources like the popular ‘Pumpkin Pumpkin’ book.
Pumpkin Life Cycle Worksheet
Early each spring we plant out our pumpkin seeds and watch the seedlings sprout.
It’s amazing, to both the children and I, how such a great plant with such big fruit can come from a small seed! It’s always a joy to see the plant come to life and start developing pumpkins.
This year we have planted many different varieties of pumpkins and squash, so it is also interesting to see the differences between the plants and fruit.
We put together this lifecycle of a pumpkin worksheet to help fix in our children’s minds how the pumpkin grows.

Once you have printed the worksheets it is a good idea to laminate them. You don’t have to but they’ll last a lot longer!
All of the images and words on this page should be cut out after having been laminated. You can keep the dotted lines or cut inside them!
Once cut out, your child can try and place the images where they belong on the worksheet. If they have learned to read then they can read out the stages as well!
The words which have been cut out can also be placed in the correct position on the sheet. Again, this sheet will only be suitable if your child can read, or alternatively, you can read the sentence for them and help prompt an answer.
The images at the bottom of this sheet aren’t involved with any activity, but it’s fun to see some of the things we can make with pumpkin!
Have you and your children tried everything??
Pumpkin Life Cycle Book
The book Pumpkin Pumpkin by Jeanne Titherington is a great book to read alongside this pumpkin lifecycle worksheet.
It’s a very simple story about a boy watching a pumpkin grow, giving the basic lifecycle. If you don’t have the book you could pick it up from the library, or you can watch it on YouTube.
It’s a sweet story that is very memorable and helps children to better appreciate how our food grows and where it comes from!
